Stonehaven’s Uptown Hound & Laundromutt has recently opened at 543 National Highway, LaVale, and is now offering expanded services to the pet community they have served at Stonehaven Kennels since 1974. This additional location includes a state of the art self-service pet wash. The system is coin operated, stocked with professional shampoos and silk protein conditioners, and provides convenient economical access to the tools the professionals use for those pet owners who normally bathe their pets at home. Attendants are also available to assist owners with grooming and bathing advice, nail trimming/grinding, ear cleaning, etc.

Yes, our salon is cat friendly! We have passionate cat groomers on site to meet your feline's needs!

Stonehaven's Uptown Hound & Laundromutt features a Full Service Pet Salon for dogs and cats.  Our Salon is an AKC Ceritifed S.A.F.E, which ensures a clean, safe, and professional salon environment for your pet.  Our Professional Stylists are AKC & IPG (International Pet Groomers) certified and regularly attend continuing education taught by internationally recognized professional groomers, handlers, trainers, veterinarians, nutritionists, skin specialists, & more.

Our pressurized Prima Bathing System is complimented by our expertise and a complete line of all natural bathing/conditioning products. This system is a valuable aid to our groomers. As your pet is bathed it’s circulation is stimulated, natural coat oil production is increased, dead hair and skin are exfoliated and it receives a soothing massage while being thoroughly cleansed.

Stonehaven's Uptown Hound also features: The Laundromutt.  Our pet wash consists of a stainless steel waist high tub, with a ramp for easy access.  The equipment allows easy access to all sides of the pet and accommodates all sizes, from Chihuahua to St. Bernard. Professional deep cleansing shampoos to all- natural flea & tick options are provided.  A high velocity dryer is also included, it does not include a heating element by design, this helps prevent potential dry skin for the pet.  Towels are not provided, but various chamois etc. are available for purchase.
The Laundromutt hours correspond with the retail store hours, and accepts quarters or tokens.  Tokens are available in the retail store, and can be purchased individually or in a baker's dozen.

This facility also offers complete spa services ranging from professional all-breed styling to therapeutic massage by a certified canine massage therapist. All spa services are booked with our clients’ schedules in mind. The flexibility of this new location allows one to multi-task and run errands, relax in our lounge upstairs utilizing our complementary Wifi, or brown in our retail shop.

For our 2-legged clients we are pleased to offer a wide array of animal oriented cards, clothing, flags and novelty items, artwork by local artists, a wide selection books, soy candles, and more. Congratulations to our Top Scoring Graduates from our Monday evening class with instructor Bev McWhirter! 

If you want to learn how to properly train your dog. If you want your dog to understand and respond quickly to what you are asking of him, we invite you and your dog to join us for a new and exciting adventure at Uptown Hound.

Beverly McWhirter of Tudorhill Dog Training will be designing and instructing the weekly sessions of (1) hour each. Because she does not travel to shows every weekend, Bev considers herself a hobby dog show competitor. She has been actively involved in the dog show world for over 35 years. To her credit she has owned, bred, and shown several AKC Conformation Champions of several different breeds. She has also trained and titled several different breeds in AKC performance competitions including all levels of obedience, agility, and rally. Bev has taught classes for several years using motivational training methods proven to be successful and easy for the owner and dog to grasp quickly. Simply put, the basis of all training is repetition of a behavior offered by the dog. Dogs want to please their people, but they must fully understand what is expected of them. Show them what you want, and through motivating repetition produce a consistent positive response. 

At the end of the (5) week course you dog should walk attentively on a leash without pulling. You will have taught him to reliably sit, down, wait, stay, and come on command. Bev will also address crate training, and several problem behaviors such as: housebreaking, jumping on people, mouthing and biting, or rushing out the car door or the front door ahead of you. She will work with each team to address individual issues they may be experiencing. 

We realize that enrolling in 5 weeks of classes is a huge commitment. However, bringing home a dog is a 12 year or more commitment as well. Training your dog how to behave well at home and in public is not just your responsibility; it is your obligation. Come prepared to work hard, and to develop the foundation for a happy well-mannered dog that you will be proud to own.
